{"id":11759,"date":"2019-04-24T05:00:46","date_gmt":"2019-04-24T04:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=11759"},"modified":"2019-04-23T13:47:48","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T12:47:48","slug":"webinar-why-should-gears-be-3d-printed-instead-of-machined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/webinar-why-should-gears-be-3d-printed-instead-of-machined\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar: Why should gears be 3D printed instead of machined?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In a live webinar on 9th May 2019, Tom Krause, Head of Additive Manufacturing at igus, will explain how to achieve wear-resistant plastic gears.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Krause will present the gear configurator, iglidur high-performance plastics for laser sintering and the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"igus 3D printing servic (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.igus.co.uk\/3dprintservice\" target=\"_blank\">igus 3D printing service<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is often difficult to design gears without assistance, because of the complex geometry,\u201d explains Krause. \u201cHowever, among the decisive criteria for a long-lasting gear is not only the design but also the selection of the right material and the appropriate manufacturing process.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Webinar participants will get practical tips on how to make wear-resistant gears quickly.
