{"id":12173,"date":"2019-05-14T04:00:38","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T03:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=12173"},"modified":"2019-05-13T16:16:56","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T15:16:56","slug":"ultralife-corporation-completes-acquisition-of-southwest-electronic-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/ultralife-corporation-completes-acquisition-of-southwest-electronic-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"Ultralife Corporation completes acquisition of Southwest Electronic Energy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Global battery manufacturer <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ultralife Corporation (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/UltralifeCorp.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ultralife Corporation<\/a><\/strong> has acquired advanced battery solutions provider <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/SWE.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Southwest Electronic Energy (SWE) (opens in a new tab)\">Southwest Electronic Energy (SWE)<\/a><\/strong> in a deal worth $25m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acquisition enhances Ultralife Corporation\u2019s extensive portfolio of battery and charger technologies and expands the company\u2019s technical expertise into new industry segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based in Missouri City, Texas, SWE is an independent smart battery power system designer and manufacturer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has more than 50 years of experience in industries ranging from oil and gas, military electronics, remote field applications and subsea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The acquisition of SWE brings this industry expertise to Ultralife Corporation, allowing the two companies to combine their technical knowledge to improve the support available to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the oil &amp; gas, offshore, and oceanographical sectors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultralife has previously established itself in the defence, medical, robotics and security sectors with its long-lasting, rugged and reliable batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSWE shares many of Ultralife\u2019s values including engineering excellence and a high standard of quality for both product and service,\u201d explained Mike Manna, VP of Global Sales and Strategic Alliances at Ultralife Corporation. \u201cThis made it a perfect cultural and strategic fit for us, as both companies can complement each other with our respective capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the past year, we have diversified into a number of new specialist areas, enhancing our portable power products for smart home and internet of things devices. With the acquisition of SWE, we can continue this expansion into oil and gas and new marine applications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSWE\u2019s expertise in delivering sophisticated battery solutions for challenging applications like measurement while drilling (MWD), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), manned underwater vehicles (MUVs) and marine buoys will significantly support us in expanding further.
