{"id":13101,"date":"2019-07-04T07:00:40","date_gmt":"2019-07-04T06:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=13101"},"modified":"2019-07-03T09:52:39","modified_gmt":"2019-07-03T08:52:39","slug":"floating-connectors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/floating-connectors\/","title":{"rendered":"Floating connectors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Molex launches two new sizes of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.molex.com\/link\/slimstack.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"SlimStack Floating Board-to-Board Connectors (opens in a new tab)\">SlimStack Floating Board-to-Board Connectors<\/a><\/strong>, 0.40mm\u00a0 and 1.25mm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed to save space and prevent fretting corrosion and provide superior contact reliability to other options in the market, the easy assembly also allow for design flexibility.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The B-to-B connectors are made for the automotive, industrial, and consumer applications markets which require a large floating range and high-speed transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SlimStack 0.40mm Floating Board-to-Board Connectors feature a low halogen housing material, a \u00b10.50mm floating range that eases misalignment worries by facilitating automatic assembly, a soft floating force, temperature support up to 125\u02daC, and a high-speed transmission rate of 6Gbps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1.25mm pitch SlimStack Floating Board-to-Board Connectors features a spring design that stops fretting corrosion, increases contact reliability, and is vibration resistant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wide floating range &#8211; in three different directions &#8211; reduces the PWB gap and facilitates assembly, even in misalignment and blind joining situations. There\u2019s also an improved contact design and a soft floating force.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur new connectors are a step above the rest, allowing for easy assembly, reliability in challenging environments, and reduced impacts from shock and vibration,\u201d said Kenji Miyahara, global product manager, Molex. \u201cPlus, because assembly is automatic, it reduces customers\u2019 time to market and saves labor costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers in the automotive field will benefit from this connector large floating range and high-vibration resistance, making it a desirable option for car column switches.
