If you\u2019re looking to ramp up your hiring efforts this summer then now is definitely the right time, as new data from the UK independent job board, CV-Library<\/a><\/strong>, shows that applications for engineering jobs jumped up by a staggering 18.4% in the second quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s more, the findings, which compared job market data from Q2 2019 with the same period last year, found that average pay in the engineering industry increased by 1.5%. In fact, salaries rose from \u00a335,765 in Q2 2018, to \u00a336,304 in Q2 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of CV-Library comments on the findings: \u201cCandidate confidence is picking up and it\u2019s fantastic to see professionals react to the UK jobs boom \u2013 particularly within the engineering industry. The market has certainly been mixed this year, but it\u2019s clear that the delay in Brexit has prompted many professionals to consider looking for a new job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt the same time, salaries are rising and while money isn\u2019t everything when it comes to job satisfaction, if you\u2019re keen to earn a higher wage then moving jobs within the construction could well be your best bet. This is because businesses are desperately trying to attract more people to their roles and have no choice but to push up their pay packets in order to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this, the data found that there were 2% more engineering jobs on offer during this period, suggesting that employers are feeling confident about their hiring efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biggins continues: \u201cEmployers are continuing to battle ongoing skills shortages and this means that many are desperate to find the top engineering talent that they need to push their organisations forward. Our data shows that these efforts could well be paying off, thanks to the huge hike in applications, which is helping to balance out the ratio between employer demand and candidate supply.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
