{"id":14894,"date":"2019-12-02T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T11:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=14894"},"modified":"2019-11-29T11:16:43","modified_gmt":"2019-11-29T11:16:43","slug":"din-rail-redundancy-power-modules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/din-rail-redundancy-power-modules\/","title":{"rendered":"DIN rail redundancy power modules"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>RS Components (RS) has announced availability of a new series of DIN rail-mount redundancy power modules from TDK-Lambda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed for automation and general-purpose industrial applications, the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.rs-online.com\/web\/p\/power-supply-accessories\/1860211\" target=\"_blank\">DRM40<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.rs-online.com\/web\/p\/power-supply-accessories\/1860212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">DRM40B<\/a><\/strong> power modules offer 20 to 40A current handling capability and can be used in N+1 redundancy systems and applications; alternatively, two supplies can be placed in parallel for additional power.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key feature of the higher-end DRM40 unit is a current-balancing LED indicator, which turns on when two power supplies have been adjusted to deliver the same current, thereby making it easier to ensure load sharing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, two isolated alarm signals indicate the output voltage status of each power supply, making it simple to enable remote fault monitoring.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a lower cost unit \u2013 the DRM40B \u2013 is also available for applications not demanding these advanced features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed to take up less space on the DIN rail, the DRM40 series comes in a highly compact unit with dimensions of only 35 x 125 x 124mm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Offering an operating temperature range of \u201340 to +70\u00baC, key electrical characteristics include: an internal voltage drop of only 200mV at 40A, enabling low power loss; a wide input voltage range of 10 to 30V; and maximum input current of 20A on each of the unit\u2019s two inputs, plus a peak input capability of 2 x 30A for 4s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shipping now from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, the series also meets the IEC\/EN\/UL60950-1, IEC\/EN\/UL62368-1 and UL508 safety standards for a range of industries and applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RS Components (RS) has announced availability of a new series of DIN rail-mount redundancy power modules from TDK-Lambda.
