It\u2019s only a matter of weeks until the New Year rolls in and January is always one of the busiest months for job hunting.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this in mind, the UK independent job board, CV-Library<\/a><\/strong>, has analysed its research studies from the past 12 months to reveal some of the key areas that engineering professionals should be focussing on in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pooling data from more than 6,000 professionals across the nation, the findings identify some interesting focus areas that could help you to fall in love with work again in 2020 and beyond. This includes: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fighting for the right salary:<\/strong> The majority (73.6%) of engineering professionals haven\u2019t even had a formal pay review meeting in the past year! Plus, 54% find it awkward talking to their employer about pay. So, brush up on your negotiation techniques if you want to earn a good wage<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Striking a good balance:<\/strong> 97.1% of engineering professionals believe that work-life balance is important and 62.3% have left a previous job because they had a poor work-life balance. How can you improve yours in 2020?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eliminating the stress:<\/strong> Over two thirds (68.3%) of engineering workers say their job makes them feel stressed. Sound similar? Speak to your employer or a medical professional<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking after your mental health:<\/strong> One in four (39.5%) of the industry\u2019s professionals claim that work is damaging their mental health and a further 90% state that they couldn\u2019t talk to their boss about this. Think about the positive changes you can make<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding a job you love:<\/strong> The majority (55%) of engineering professionals like their job, however, an overwhelming 61.5% think about quitting their job every day<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Securing the right workplace perks:<\/strong> 70.1% of engineering workers don\u2019t receive workplace perks and benefits! Employer should be offering these to sweeten the deal, plus remember that you can negotiate on these if the pay falls short of what you were expecting<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prioritising your life:<\/strong> A staggering 55.6% of the industry\u2019s professionals feel work is the most important thing in their life right now, with only 17.8% prioritising their social life and 10% their love life. What areas are you prioritising in your life right now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
