Nearly two thirds of engineers plan on moving jobs in 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Are you worried about your employees leaving your company in 2020?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, according to the latest research from CV-Library, the UK independent job board, there may be cause for concern, as 60.4% of engineers admit that they want to find a new job in the New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study, which surveyed over 2,000 UK professionals, reveals that 68.5% of workers in the industry think the new year is a perfect opportunity for a fresh start. It asked respondents to outline the resolutions they want to achieve in 2020, with the top ten including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Find a new job \u2013 60.4%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Earn more money \u2013 52.8%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Learn a new skill \u2013 37.7%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Lose weight \u2013 34%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Move to a new house \u2013 32.1%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Get a promotion \u2013 22.6%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Start saving money \u2013 22.6%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Learn a language \u2013 18.9%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Take on a new hobby \u2013 17%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Improve mental health \u2013 13.2%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee Biggins, CEO and founder of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/cvdatabase&gt;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">CV-Library<\/a><\/strong>, comments:\u201cThe start of the new year is consistently one of the most popular times for people to look for a new job; and this is a positive if you\u2019re looking to attract more candidates to your jobs. At the same time, it also means you\u2019re at risk of losing talented team members to the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe can see from our findings that there are a number of other priorities for working professionals in 2020, such as earning more money, learning a new skill and getting promoted. While you may not be able to stop people from moving on, you can help them to reach other goals by offering competitive pay, appropriate training and career progression opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the data also reveals that there were some stark differences in what the nation\u2019s generations considered as most important. Indeed, 69.8% of 25-34 year-olds are keen to earn more money in the new year, compared to just 51.5% of 55-64 year-olds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside this, losing weight was the number one priority for under 18s, while only 38.7% of 25-34 year-olds and 28.9% of 35-44 year-olds felt this was important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biggins continues: \u201cUnderstanding what your employees want from their careers is important and this can really help to set you apart as an employer of choice. If you\u2019re responsive to your employees\u2019 needs and do everything in your power to help them reach their career resolutions, they\u2019ll be more likely to stay with your company for the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt the same time, it\u2019s a good idea to make the most of the fact that people are planning on finding a new job in 2020. Our data found that applications for engineering jobsfell significantly between October and November, so finding the right candidates is vital.
