Whether you\u2019re looking to gain a promotion in your current role, or want to find a job somewhere else, a new study from the UK independent job board, <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/jobs\/engineering\" target=\"_blank\">CV-Library<\/a><\/strong>, reveals the key metrics that engineering professionals believe make someone successful at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study of 2,000 UK professionals found that engineering professionals see being trusted at work, earning a good wage and managing people as key measures of success, with the top 10 key wins including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Being trusted to get on with your job \u2013 75%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Earning over \u00a350k \u2013 45.5%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Managing more than 10 people \u2013 22.7%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Having a company car \u2013 15.9%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Not having to report into anyone \u2013 13.6%\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Having 35 days of annual leave a year \u2013 13.6%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Working from home when you want \u2013 11.4%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Having your own office \u2013 6.8%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Being able to travel abroad for work \u2013 4.5%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Being in charge of hiring and firing \u2013 4.5%\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of CV-Library, comments: \u201cIt\u2019s great to have clear goals at work, but it\u2019s important to be realistic. If your employer doesn\u2019t offer company cars or the opportunity to travel then it\u2019s no good measuring your success on these areas \u2013 unless you\u2019re prepared to look for a new job entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf in doubt, talk to your boss about your aspirations. Find out whether you\u2019ll be able to meet your objectives in your current role. In most cases, hard work and determination pays off, but if you\u2019re early on in your career, a little patience never goes a miss too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the findings show some stark differences between the preferences of engineering professionals and the rest of the nation when it comes to success at work, with key findings including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Engineering professionals favour earning over \u00a350k more than the average Brit (45.5% vs 36.1%)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Engineering professionals favour having a company car more than the average Brit (15.9% vs 7.6%)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><li>Engineering professionals favour working from home less than the average Brit (11.4% vs 21.3%)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Biggins continues: \u201cNaturally, we all have our own objectives when it comes to work and what we want to achieve. By having a clear idea of what\u2019s important to you, you\u2019re more likely to find a job that\u2019s going to fulfil your needs.
