Global composites expert Exel Composites<\/a><\/strong> has appointed Juha Pesonen as segment owner for telecoms.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pesonen takes up the role from the organisation\u2019s head office location in Vantaa, Finland, and will lead the business\u2019 telecoms offering across the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pesonen joins Exel from OptoFidelity where he was project portfolio manager for the testing and measurement solutions provider. He has built up over 20 years of experience across the information and communications technology (ICT) and automation industries, fulfilling a number of project and portfolio management roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting his career as an electrical design engineer for the marine industry at ABB, Pesonen then moved into a project management role at TietoEnator Oyj, working with global organisations such as Nokia. His career took him to a variable speed drives technology company, Vacon, where he worked in several roles including as a key account manager in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy background of working with different manufacturing technologies and across a variety of industries means I am able to understand our customers and their business needs,\u201d said Pesonen. \u201cWith major changes to industrial practices on the horizon, particularly across the telecoms sector, it is vital that organisations like Exel work with customers to ensure that business requirements are met for now and the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c5G technology is on the verge of launching and will form the basis of a number of new applications,\u201d Pesonen added. \u201cWhile 5G will enable huge improvements across industrial applications, the services that it will enable will also be key. Currently, systems and software can be built on top of 4G networks, but there are significant capacity issues that the network and infrastructure inhibit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBeyond the clear changes, such as 5G, that will have a direct influence on the telecoms industry, there are numerous developments that will be significantly impacting manufacturing and engineering applications as a whole,\u201d explained Pesonen. \u201cThe Internet of Things (IoT) is a major industrial trend that is only set to grow and develop as technology continues to advance too. My role will not only help to integrate the advancements in the telecoms industry but also those from the wider industrial and technological sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
