These new filters are designed to reliably mitigate excessive harmonics in most demanding applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new ecosine max filter series FN3470\/71, FN3480\/81, FN3472\/73 and FN3482\/83 are based on Schaffner\u2019s award-winning ecosine platform and are available with versions for 400VAC and 480VAC, and 50Hz and 60Hz networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are a key passive power quality product for the higher power ranges (250KW-500KW) that can be found in demanding drive applications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-chokes versions FN3470\/80\/72\/82 are designed to achieve &lt;5% harmonic distortion current (THDi) at rated power even when using drives without DC-link choke.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"582\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/164-PR-Schaffner-ecosine\u00ae-max-passive-harmonic-filters-582x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Passive harmonic filters\" class=\"wp-image-16034\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/164-PR-Schaffner-ecosine\u00ae-max-passive-harmonic-filters-582x1024.jpg 582w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/164-PR-Schaffner-ecosine\u00ae-max-passive-harmonic-filters-171x300.jpg 171w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/164-PR-Schaffner-ecosine\u00ae-max-passive-harmonic-filters.jpg 737w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><figcaption>Key passive power quality products for higher power ranges found in demanding drive applications<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The more economical two-chokes versions FN3471\/81\/73\/83 are designed to achieve &lt;5% total THDi at rated power if used with drives including at least 4% DC-link choke. They can also be applied to drives without DC-link choke reaching a THDi of 8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schaffner\u2019s ecosine max has compliance with the requirements of IEEE-519 and other stringent national or international power quality standards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When using ecosine max filters the electrical infrastructure is unburdened, and its utilisation is much more efficient and reliable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the service life cycle of electrical equipment in the end system is extended and energy costs can be reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ecosine max filter series are designed to be the most compact open panel solutions that are ready to be integrated in standard or customised electrical cabinets. All ecosine max filters are CE-marked, UL listed and RoHS compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All versions are offered either with a circuit breaker switch protecting the trap capacitor bank or with a trap disconnect jumper to allow any third-party circuit breaker switch to be installed.
