He will be presented with the award at a ceremony in London on the 15th of November 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Hankins joined <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/formnext-2017-renishaw-demonstrates-productive-additive-manufacturing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renishaw<\/a><\/span> as an apprentice aged 16 and following completion of his apprenticeship he went on to achieve a degree in Manufacturing Systems and Manufacturing Management at Cardiff University, sponsored by the company.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nHe progressed through various roles in engineering, production management and operations management at <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/renishaw-apprentice-shortlisted-in-apprenticeship-awards-cymru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renishaw<\/a><\/span>, before being given responsibility for the overall management of UK manufacturing operations in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Today Hankins is responsible for the operations, process engineering and support functions associated with manufacturing and facilities in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>He is also a Director of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/100-budding-engineers-get-an-experience-of-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renishaw<\/a><\/span>Ireland and has responsibility for manufacturing operations at Renishaw\u2019s German subsidiary, itp Gmbh. He was made an Honorary Visiting Professor at Cardiff University in 2013, where he sits on the School of Engineering\u2019s Industrial Advisory Board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this is an individual award, I believe that it also recognises the tremendous global success of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/inspiring-future-engineers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Renishaw<\/a><\/span> and the outstanding contribution of our highly skilled manufacturing teams,\u201d explained Professor Hankins. \u201cI have been fortunate to spend my career in a culture that encourages people to strive for excellence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also fortunate to work alongside manufacturing professionals who, on a daily basis, have risen to the challenges of delivering complex, high quality products to Renishaw\u2019s global customers.
