{"id":2192,"date":"2017-11-03T10:47:21","date_gmt":"2017-11-03T10:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=2192"},"modified":"2017-11-03T10:48:27","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T10:48:27","slug":"2192-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/2192-2\/","title":{"rendered":"RS Components introduces Pmods and Arduino-style shields from Digilent"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/uk.rs-online.com\/web\/p\/processor-microcontroller-development-kits\/1368283\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RS Components<\/a><\/span> (RS) has extended its portfolio of versatile development tools and equipment with a new range of Pmods (peripheral modules) and shields from Digilent.<\/p>\n<p>Enabling makers and engineers to build the bridge from systems to the physical world, the devices target use in a range of applications.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThese include single-board-computer designs and Internet of Things (IoT) projects that require additional capabilities, such as wireless communications including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi; MEMS devices such as three-axis gyroscopes, accelerometers and microphones; or motor control.<\/p>\n<p>Compatible with the Arduino R3 footprint, the chipKIT Pmod shield enables users to connect to more than 80 Pmods, augmenting the capabilities of system boards and thereby extending the functionality of designs and the range of possible applications.<\/p>\n<p>The shield has five 2&#215;6 Digilent Pmod connectors, one 2\u00d74 I\u00b2C connector and optional pull-up resistors for the I\u00b2C bus.<\/p>\n<p>A key product in the range is the Pmod IOXP I\u00b2C port expander and adapter board for the Arduino Uno development kit.<\/p>\n<p>The Pmod IOXP is an I\/O expansion module that provides up to 19 additional GPIO pins from a serial I\u00b2C bus connection, as well as a keypad matrix decoder.<\/p>\n<p>Other Digilent devices available from RS include: the chipKIT Pro MX7 PIC32MX development kit; the Arty Z7 Zynq-7000 development board; the Digital Discovery Logic Analyser; video and display devices such as JTAG cables, which enable high-speed programming and debugging of Xilinx FPGA and SoC devices from a host PC; a 128 x 32-pixel mono OLED display; a I2S digital-to-stereo audio output; and a series of Pmods featuring current, humidity and temperature sensing devices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RS Components (RS) has extended its portfolio of versatile development tools and equipment with a new range of Pmods (peripheral modules) and shields from Digilent.
