{"id":22685,"date":"2022-08-10T09:44:12","date_gmt":"2022-08-10T08:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=22685"},"modified":"2022-08-10T09:47:28","modified_gmt":"2022-08-10T08:47:28","slug":"tech-firms-boost-sustainability-budgets-with-most-going-on-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/tech-firms-boost-sustainability-budgets-with-most-going-on-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Tech firms boost sustainability budgets, with most going on IT"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>How Sustainable is the Technology Sector? examines the state of sustainability in the technology sector and offers practical steps and guidance on what businesses can do to stay ahead of the gam<\/strong>e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Technology companies are earmarking bigger budgets for sustainability issues and most of it is spent on IT issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s according to a new <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iresearchservices.com\/report\/how-sustainable-is-the-technology-sector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">How Sustainable is the Technology Sector?<\/a><\/em><\/strong> report from top thought leadership company, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iresearchservices.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">iResearch Services<\/a><\/strong>, which surveyed 550 technology business executives in 11 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"326\" height=\"291\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-1.jpg\" alt=\"Tech firms boost sustainability budgets, with most going on IT\" class=\"wp-image-22686\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-1.jpg 326w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-1-300x268.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 326px) 100vw, 326px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Most technology companies surveyed (36%) earmarked between $500k and $1 million on ESG projects in the 2021 financial year, but in the current financial year, the majority of companies (31%) have budgeted either $500k-$1 million or $2-$5 million on sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"316\" height=\"296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22688\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-2.jpg 316w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Budget-picture-2-300x281.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 316px) 100vw, 316px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Germany is leading in the current financial year among the countries surveyed, but it is set to be surpassed by the UK in the 2023 financial year, with a substantial increase in the average investment planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across all levels of responsibility for a three-year average, the lion\u2019s share of investment is allocated to IT departments (37%) and Infrastructure\/sustainability technology (29.6%). Staff training takes up a quarter of the budget (25.9%) and others (7%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gurpreet Purewal, Vice President of Sales at iResearch Services, says: \u201cGreen IT encompasses the manufacturing, use, management and disposal of equipment.
