India is set to dominate global benzene capacity growth by 2030, accounting for nearly half of the worldwide planned additions. Backed by strong demand from the automotive and manufacturing sectors, the country is expected contribute about 46% of the total capacity additions from upcoming planned and announced projects through 2030, positioning itself as a key hub in the global petrochemicals value chain, according to\u00a0GlobalData<\/u><\/a>,<\/strong> a leading data and analytics company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GlobalData’s latest report, Benzene Industry Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned Plants to 2030<\/strong><\/em><\/u><\/a>,\u00a0shows that India is likely to witness a total benzene capacity additions of 3.29 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) during 2025 to 2030 from two announced and five planned projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nivedita Roy,\u00a0Oil and Gas<\/strong><\/u><\/a>\u00a0Analyst at GlobalData, Comments: “Benzene is widely used in the automotive and manufacturing industries, where it serves as a raw material for producing synthetic rubber, plastics, and other chemicals used in various automotive components and manufacturing processes. Driven by the growth of these industries that heavily rely on benzene-derived products, the Indian market is experiencing a substantial increase in demand.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In India, the highest capacity addition is expected from the Reliance Industries Jamnagar Benzene Plant 3 with a capacity of 1.60mtpa. Located in the Gujarat state, the plant is anticipated to commence benzene production in 2030. Reliance Industries Ltd is the operator of this plant with 100% equity stake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second highest capacity addition in the country is from Haldia Petrochemicals Cuddalore Benzene Plant. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2029 with an annual production capacity of 0.68mtpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Nayara Energy Vadinar Benzene Plant and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Bina Benzene Plant represent other significant capacity additions with 0.50 mtpa and 0.30 mtpa, respectively. Both of the plants are expected to come online in 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
