{"id":3273,"date":"2017-12-11T09:59:36","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T09:59:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=3273"},"modified":"2017-12-11T09:59:36","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T09:59:36","slug":"rs-components-introduces-first-industrial-panel-meter-using-e-ink-display","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/rs-components-introduces-first-industrial-panel-meter-using-e-ink-display\/","title":{"rendered":"RS Components introduces first industrial panel meter using E-Ink display"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rs-online.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RS Components<\/a><\/span> (RS) has announced availability of the first industrial panel meter to use E-Ink display technology.<\/p>\n<p>The PanelPilot SGD 21-B\u00a0from Lascar Electronics, a maker of display panels for industrial applications, is a low-cost and ultra-low-power single-channel voltmeter with a sleek monochrome E-Ink display.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nE-Ink displays are typically used in a range of electronic consumer devices \u2013\u00a0most notably in a leading e-book reader product \u2013\u00a0but are now starting to see use in industrial applications.<\/p>\n<p>These types of displays have two major advantages over alternative technologies: firstly, they are readable even in extreme sunlight; and secondly, they offer very low power consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The PanelPilot SGD 21-B\u00a0comes with a 2.1-inch dot-matrix display with a 250 x 122-pixel resolution.<\/p>\n<p>The product takes advantage of the company\u2019s innovative PanelPilot B Windows-based platform, which allows users to configure and customise a range of Lascar compatible displays with the click of a mouse.<\/p>\n<p>The use of pre-loaded display layout templates, which are configurable for further customisation, enables users to get up and running very quickly, without writing any code.<\/p>\n<p>For the new PanelPilot SGD 21-B, the software platform enables users to choose from a selection of analogue and digital voltmeter apps, and then customise labels, scaling and alarms for their own specific application.<\/p>\n<p>The device allows the setting of two alarm levels with a dedicated alarm output and a configurable digital I\/O pin.<\/p>\n<p>A splashscreen can be added to display on power-up. Once the app is complete, it can be uploaded to the SGD 21-B display using a USB cable.<\/p>\n<p>Key to the product is its 4 to 9V DC power supply and its very low power consumption, which means it can be used in mobile applications that are powered by batteries.<\/p>\n<p>Additional specifications include: dimensions of 73.8 x 37.5 x 10.8mm; and an operating temperature range of 0 to +40\u00b0C.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RS Components (RS) has announced availability of the first industrial panel meter to use E-Ink display technology.
