{"id":4389,"date":"2018-02-06T08:06:37","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T08:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=4389"},"modified":"2018-02-06T08:08:25","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T08:08:25","slug":"digital-differential-impedance-transducer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/digital-differential-impedance-transducer\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital differential impedance transducer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Measuring Division of Kaman Precision Products announces the release of a new eddy current measurement system, the <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kamansensors.com\/pdf_files\/KPP_DDIT_SS_FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Differential Impedance Transducer<\/a><\/span> (DDIT).<\/p>\n<p>The DDIT is designed to provide a digital interface for high speed eddy current measurement systems, with resolution in the micro-inch range, at bandwidths as high as 60 kilohertz (kHz).<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nIt is suitable for use in applications for fast steering mirrors, magnetic bearing active control, shaft vibration, image stabilisation, and adaptive optics.<\/p>\n<p>Using a standard 9D connector for reading data, power, and control signals, the system operates from a single power supply with a voltage range of 8-28 volts.<\/p>\n<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kamansensors.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaman<\/a><\/span>\u2019s custom sensors, signal processing, analog to digital converter, and custom calibration system are used to deliver each high precision Digital DIT sensor system.<\/p>\n<p>The DDIT is available in three configurations: The Digital System is designed to interface directly to an embedded controller with a master serial peripheral interface (SPI) bus.<br \/>\nThe ANA (analogue) System provides linear analogue voltage, with a full range output signal of 0-5VDC with a null position of 2.5VDC.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4391\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-1024x511.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-1024x511.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-768x383.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-660x330.jpg 660w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-1050x525.jpg 1050w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2-800x399.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DDIT_2.jpg 1908w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The FE System is designed for field-programmable gate array (FPGA) interface for high speed operation, with data rates as high as 128kHz, 48 bits of data, 60kHz bandwidth, and no internal firmware.<br \/>\nKaman sensors are designed and tuned for specific applications. The DDIT system utilises two matched sensor pairs for optimum operation for each channel.<br \/>\nThe input signals are filtered and scaled to provide optimum operation, remove common mode noise, and provide a drive signal.<\/p>\n<p>The signal processing also provides digital filtering as part of the signal conditioning to reduce signal noise.<br \/>\nKaman\u2019s Digital DIT system samples data at eight times the data rate.<\/p>\n<p>The oversampling provides higher resolution at the defined data rate.
