It offers a comprehensive suite of field programmable gate array (FPGA) design tools, has achieved functional safety certification from T\u00dcV Rheinland according to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61508-2, Annex F.<\/p>\n<p>With Microsemi now offering a Functional Safety Data Package, engineers designing products to conform to IEC 61508:2010 can utilise the company\u2019s certified Libero tool chain to accelerate certification time.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe functional safety certification of Libero v11.5 SP2 supports <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/microsemi-introduces-new-smart-storage-hbas-and-raid-adapters-for-data-centres\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsemi<\/a><\/span>\u2019s IGLOO and ProASIC3 FPGA product families, as well as many intellectual property (IP) blocks, in functional safety applications in accordance with IEC 61508 up to SIL 3.<\/p>\n<p>Using the new Functional Safety Data Package with the certified version of Libero makes it easier to pass functional safety assessments, accelerating the time to certification.<\/p>\n<p>Designers are also able to leverage the unique benefits of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/microsemi-launches-mi-v-ecosystem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsemi<\/a><\/span>\u2019s differentiating FPGA features, including single event upset (SEU) immunity, instant-on and lower power.<\/p>\n<p>As part of Microsemi\u2019s commitment to IEC 61508 safety-critical applications, its newly certified Libero SoC software is ideal for FPGA designs targeting applications within the industrial, medical, locomotive, avionics and defense markets such as robotics, transportation controls, drones and other applications where human life could be at risk if electronics fail.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s Functional Safety Data Package includes information on relevant devices and their capabilities; Libero SoC Design Suite v11.5 SP2, certified by T\u00dcV Rheinland; Libero SoC documentation; relevant IP cores and associated documentation; and IEC 61508 Safety Data Manual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to shorten our customers\u2019 functional safety certification efforts with the release of our Functional Safety Data Package, SAFETY-PKG-G3,\u201d said Ted Marena, director of FPGA marketing at <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\">Microsemi<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur flash-based FPGAs have always been compelling for functional safety applications because of their unique SEU immunity.
