This suggests that companies that were considering reshoring in the past three years are now taking action.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>With rapidly rising labour costs in traditional low-cost countries such as China, manufacturers are now experiencing that the financial advantages of manufacturing overseas are being seriously eroded.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script> <ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins> <script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>When they realise that offshoring also usually involves complex logistics, added shipping times and difficulties in reacting quickly and nimbly to changes in customer requirements, there are clear reasons why many manufacturers should be looking for new ways to reduce manufacturing costs and increase productivity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4634\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2-714x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"886\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2-714x1024.jpg 714w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2-209x300.jpg 209w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2-768x1102.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2-800x1148.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/trelleborg_02-2.jpg 1965w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cobots keep manufacturing costs down<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trelleborg Sealing Solutions \u2013 a part of Trelleborg Group \u2013 spent years researching ways to optimize their production to meet customer demand. They were not interested in moving their production to one of Trelleborg\u2019s own factories in lower wage countries because customers were demanding faster and more flexible delivery \u2013 something that production overseas would get in the way of.<\/p>\n<p>Instead Trelleborg Sealing Solutions found a suitable solution using collaborative robots \u2013 cobots \u2013 from <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.universal-robots.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universal Robots<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The lightweight cobots have been a part of the workforce at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions since 2012 and it is clear to Production Manager, Jesper Riis, at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions which influence they have had on the production: \u201cWe use our CNC machines much better with cobots, and our product has never been more uniform. Basically, this means that we produce at a much more competitive price than before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adding robots does not only optimise the production. Contrary to popular beliefs, the increase in automation has a positive impact on employment as well, says Operator at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Dragan Jovanivic: \u201cAfter adding robots to the production, we increased incoming orders to such an extent we had to hire 50 new employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is not an exceptional case.
