text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe guests were joined by Sky Sports\u2019 presenters and former England footballers Tony Cottee, Paul Merson, and Phil Thompson.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4864\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4864\" style=\"width: 618px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4864 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0008-800x600.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4864\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Danny McCalman, Richard Dewar,Paula Livie, Jill Jones<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They were treated to a three-course dinner alongside speeches and a fantastic set from impressionist and comedian, Kevin Connelly.<\/p>\n<p>The main event of the night was a charity auction, which featured prizes such as a Newcastle United football shirt signed by footballing legend, Alan Shearer, sold out U2 concert tickets with full hospitality package and a signed Anthony Joshua boxing glove.<\/p>\n<p>With one of Barrett Steel\u2019s employees being directly affected by the 2017 Manchester bombing, the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund was an obvious choice to benefit from the generosity of the attendees, and an address was given by the Chief Executive of Manchester Council, Joanne Roney OBE, detailing the immensely important work that the charity has done since its inception.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4865\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/DSC_0001-800x533.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Joanne Roney, from the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, said: &#8220;As trustees of the Emergency Fund, we remain hugely grateful for the outpouring of support and solidarity we&#8217;ve had from around the world for those affected by the tragedy at Manchester Arena.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The money raised by this dinner will go a long way to helping those who have been affected and we are touched that donors are still thinking of us and still want to help support us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Leeds\u2019 Mind representative Laura Pattinson also spoke on the evening about the effect these life changing events have on mental health and the importance of support for charities such as Mind.\u00a0 The charity works incredibly hard in the local community to ensure no one should suffer in silence around the issue of mental health.<\/p>\n<p>Rob Ridge of Barrett Steel and organiser of the event commented: \u201cBarrett Steel have historically, and continue to, support both local and national charities. This is one our Core Values that every employee within the organisation lives and breathes. The support of our suppliers, customers, staff and friends made this night a fantastic success and really helped us to make a difference.
