According to new research from CV-Library<\/a><\/span>, the UK independent job board, 79.7% of engineering professionals believe that their career has had a negative impact on their self-esteem, with a further 53.4% feeling that they place too much importance on their job.<\/p>\n

The study, which surveyed 1,200 UK workers, explored the impact that job hunting and work has on individual\u2019s self-esteem. When asked what aspects of work make them feel down about themselves, engineers cited the following:<\/p>\n

* Making a silly mistake (40.6%)
\n* Being turned down for a promotion (33.1%)
\n* Being made redundant (31.3%)
\n* Not feeling skilled enough (21.9%)
\n* Being asked to leave during probation (12.5%)<\/p>\n
