{"id":5559,"date":"2018-03-15T07:30:42","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T07:30:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=5559"},"modified":"2018-03-14T13:07:11","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T13:07:11","slug":"big-bang-fair-2018-rs-components-makes-it-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/big-bang-fair-2018-rs-components-makes-it-debut\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Bang Fair 2018: RS Components makes it debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rs-online.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RS Components<\/a><\/span> (RS)is to take its innovation truck Titan II to <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebigbangfair.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Big Bang UK Young Scientists &amp; Engineers Fair<\/a><\/span> &#8211; the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>RS will, for the first time, join key supporters of the show being held at the NEC in Birmingham from 14th \u2013 17th March, including the Army, Royal Navy, BBC Learning and the Institution of Engineering &amp; Technology (IET).<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe latest Titan II truck, will debut at the show demonstrating technologies such as RS\u2019 DesignSpark platform, Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, robotics, Internet of Things and thermal imaging \u2013 as well as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology to really bring innovation to life.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Bang Fair combines exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits, and careers information from STEM professionals \u2013 with 80k pre-registered attendees illustrating the popularity of the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Bang Fair highlights to young people (primarily aged 7-19) the exciting and rewarding opportunities available to them, by bringing classroom learning to life.<\/p>\n<p>RS education events manager Laura Giddings said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be bringing Titan II truck to the biggest and best show in the UK, which is core to inspiring budding young engineers and technologists, promotes STEM subjects to study, and highlights careers in engineering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese objectives are fundamental to our For The Inspired campaign and STEM strategy, for which the truck is a key part.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re committed to addressing the engineering skills shortage by educating and inspiring the next generation of engineers, and as a key partner of the Year of Engineering, The Big Bang Fair is an ideal platform to showcase our dedicated work in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As well as giving demonstrations on Titan II of the latest technology used in industry, there will be opportunities for fair goers to learn coding using Pi-tops and Mirobots, and to win a prize on the RS Wheel of Fortune, as well as the chance to enter into RS\u2019 year-long campaign to design a new panel for Titan II.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be an expert team from RS on hand on the truck, as well as support from two RS suppliers &#8211; Brainboxes and igus robotics &#8211; plus support from STEM ambassadors from the local STEM hub community in the Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, visitors to Titan II will also be able to see and hear about the newest release from Raspberry Pi (launched on Pi Day \u2013 14th March).<\/p>\n<p>The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ can help teach young people to program\/code with free of charge resources. The B+ Model can do everything a desktop PC can do, whilst maintaining the same mechanical footprint as both the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors to Titan II at the Big Bang Fair will be able to enter a raffle, and be in with a chance to win one of the 20 new Pi 3B kits.
