{"id":5583,"date":"2018-03-15T11:15:59","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T11:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=5583"},"modified":"2018-03-15T09:57:21","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T09:57:21","slug":"ultra-small-devices-for-rapid-charging-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/ultra-small-devices-for-rapid-charging-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Ultra-small devices for rapid charging applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toshiba.semicon-storage.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toshiba Electronics Europe<\/a><\/span> launches two new N-channel MOSFET drivers suitable for rapid-charging and other high current applications.<\/p>\n<p>The new TCK401G (active-high) and TCK402G (active-low) charge pump driver ICs are suitable for high current mobile charging applications when used in conjunction with\u00a0low RDS(on)\u00a0N-channel MOSFETs.<\/p>\n<p>The driver ICs support several built-in safety functions, including overvoltage protection, inrush current reduction and auto output discharge.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nOperating from an input voltage in the range 2.7 to 28V DC, the devices draw just 121\u03bcA of quiescent current (IQ).<\/p>\n<p>Switching times for the gate voltage (VGATE) are 0.58ms (ON) and 16.6\u03bcs (OFF).<\/p>\n<p>A high-efficiency power supply circuit can be realised by using one of the new drivers with one or two external N-channel MOSFETs that have a maximum voltage rating and on-resistance suitable for the intended application.<\/p>\n<p>As an example, the combination of a TCK40xG driver IC and the low on-resistance SSM6K513NU MOSFET is ideal for mobile or consumer applications, as it makes it possible to build a 100W power supply with a very compact footprint.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the high level of integration, the driver ICs are still housed in the small industry-leading WCSP6E package, measuring just 0.8mm \u00d7 1.2mm \u00d7 0.55mm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toshiba Electronics Europe launches two new N-channel MOSFET drivers suitable for rapid-charging and other high current applications.
