{"id":6495,"date":"2018-04-13T09:00:37","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T08:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=6495"},"modified":"2018-04-12T18:32:12","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T17:32:12","slug":"low-temperature-e-paper-displays-suitable-for-dynamic-labelling-and-signage-in-sub-zero-conditions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/low-temperature-e-paper-displays-suitable-for-dynamic-labelling-and-signage-in-sub-zero-conditions\/","title":{"rendered":"Low temperature e-paper displays suitable for dynamic labelling and signage in sub-zero conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pervasivedisplays.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pervasive Displays<\/a><\/span> (PDi), a leader in e-paper displays, announces a new TFT active matrix Electronic Paper Display (EPD) module that provides a dynamic, easily-readable display of information down to freezing temperatures of -25\u00b0 C (-13 \u00b0F).<\/p>\n<p>This low temperature, low power, high resolution display module is the 2.13-inch E2213HS091.<\/p>\n<p>The module is highly integrated, with a built in timing controller and other support circuitry to help designers speed up product development.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>The display&#8217;s remarkable low temperature operation (from -25\u00b0C to 10\u00b0C), ultra-low power consumption, clarity and ease-of-integration make it suitable for new signage, labelling, tagging and informational applications in sectors and settings such as public information, retail, healthcare, transportation, warehousing, laboratories, cold-chain logistics, and food packaging and storage.<\/p>\n<p>Typical application areas include electronic shelf labels (ESL), Internet of Things (IoT) devices, retail freezers, e-POP (point of purchase) and signage, electronic bulletins, and navigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;E-paper displays that work reliably in sub-zero temperatures are opening up a new frontier of applications as these products outperform older technologies,&#8221; said Scott Soong, CEO of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/small-size-colour-e-paper-displays-integrate-controller-electronics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pervasive Displays<\/a><\/span>. &#8220;We&#8217;re also making those new applications easier to develop, and reducing time to market, by using chip-on-glass technology to integrate the timing controller and other support circuits right onto the panel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The E2213HS091 uses TFT active matrix monochrome E Ink display panel technology.<\/p>\n<p>Text and graphics are sharp and clear thanks to the display&#8217;s high resolution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natural light-readable display<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unlike older LCD technology, E Ink displays provides a vibrant, natural light-readable display without needing a power-hungry backlight.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to its bi-stable nature, EPD module technology requires no power to maintain an image and very little power to update an image.<\/p>\n<p>Developers building applications around this new module can reduce their component costs and shorten their application development time, as features like the integrated chip-on-glass (CoG) timing controller and booster circuit reduce the need for external driving circuitry and cut down software development overhead.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure the best image quality, fastest display update speed, and greatest reliability, the timing controller&#8217;s one time programmable (OTP) look up table holds driving waveforms, which control the series of electrical impulses that change the color of the e-paper display&#8217;s pixels.<\/p>\n<p>PDi&#8217;s stored driving waveforms also help to simplify programming, and to ensure the pre-tested waveforms are ideally tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pervasive Displays (PDi), a leader in e-paper displays, announces a new TFT active matrix Electronic Paper Display (EPD) module that provides a dynamic, easily-readable display of information down to freezing temperatures of -25\u00b0 C (-13 \u00b0F).
