That\u2019s according to the latest data from <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CV-Library<\/a><\/span>, the UK independent job site.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe data explored fluctuations in salaries, jobs and applications throughout April and compared these with statistics from the same period in 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Above-average hike in pay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While the nation as a whole saw salaries rising by 2% year-on-year, the engineering sector saw an above-average hike in pay, making it onto the list of the top 10 industries for salary growth right now.<\/p>\n<p>The full list includes:<\/p>\n<p>* Legal \u2013 Salaries rose by 11.3%<br \/>\n* IT \u2013 Salaries rose by 7.2%<br \/>\n* Social care \u2013 Salaries rose by 7.2%<br \/>\n* Marketing \u2013 Salaries rose by 4.4%<br \/>\n* Sales \u2013 Salaries rose by 4.3%<br \/>\n* Automotive \u2013 Salaries rose by 3.9%<br \/>\n* Accounting \u2013 Salaries rose by 3.4%<br \/>\n* Engineering \u2013 Salaries rose by 3.1%<br \/>\n* Recruitment \u2013 Salaries rose by 2.7%<br \/>\n* Catering \u2013 Salaries rose by 1.2%<\/p>\n<p>Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/revealed-five-reasons-why-engineering-professionals-lie-to-secure-a-job\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CV-Library[<\/a>\/highlight], comments: \u201cIt\u2019s great to see that employers across the engineering sector are remaining positive in the face of ongoing uncertainty and that many are continuing to invest in their recruitment efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith salaries rising across the industry, the data suggests that the competition to secure the top talent isn\u2019t letting up any time soon!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis rise in pay and job vacancies is great news for candidates in the industry who may be looking for their next role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, application rates in the industry remained fairly stagnant in April, rising by just 0.4%.<\/p>\n<p>That said, despite this being a small increase, it was one of the few sectors to actually see a rise in applications.<\/p>\n<p>Biggins concludes: \u201cThe fact that application rates remained stagnant across the engineering sector suggests that professionals are not feeling confident enough to move around the job market right now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf businesses in the industry hope to entice candidates out of their current roles, they must continue to offer the most competitive packages they can.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s clear that businesses across the engineering industry are working hard to attract talented candidates into their roles, with advertised salaries witnessing a 3.1% increase last month.
