{"id":7414,"date":"2018-05-23T07:30:36","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T06:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=7414"},"modified":"2018-05-22T18:32:03","modified_gmt":"2018-05-22T17:32:03","slug":"three-phase-brushless-fan-motor-driver-ic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/three-phase-brushless-fan-motor-driver-ic\/","title":{"rendered":"Three-phase brushless fan motor driver IC"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/toshiba-unveils-next-generation-600v-planar-mosfet-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toshiba Electronics Europe<\/a><\/span> announcesd the launch of the <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toshiba.semicon-storage.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TC78B025FTG<\/a><\/span>, a three-phase brushless motor driver IC with a rotation speed control (closed loop control) function.<\/p>\n<p>The new device is intended for small fan applications in servers, home appliances and industrial equipment.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe cooling fans used in servers and other must be small and rotate at high speeds with uniform accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>Uniformity is best achieved by using a speed-feedback method to suppress fluctuations in rotation speed caused by changes in the power supply voltage and load.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Flexible rotation speed control <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Until now, this has required the use of microcomputers, but <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/toshiba-launches-1-5a-ldo-regulators-in-ultra-small-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toshiba<\/a><\/span>\u2019s new solution achieves flexible rotation speed control without external microcomputers by incorporating a non-volatile memory (NVM).<\/p>\n<p>This allows easy system configuration and supports motor speeds from hundreds to tens of thousands of rotations per minute (RPM) especially as <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/toshiba-releases-automotive-40v-n-channel-power-mosfets-in-5mm-x-6mm-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toshiba<\/a><\/span>\u2019s intelligent phase control (InPAC) motor drive technology realises efficient driving across a wide rotation range without requiring adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>The device operates from a power supply in the range 4.5V to 16V and provides a sine-wave drive with 150-degree commutation.<\/p>\n<p>Industry-leading low ON resistance of 0.2\u03a9 (typ.) (total of high and low sides) reduces the IC\u2019s self-heating during operation, thereby extending support to large current drives. Speed is controlled by a simple PWM signal or an analogue voltage input.<\/p>\n<p>In built protections include thermal shutdown, over current protection and motor lock detection.<\/p>\n<p>The device is housed in a VQFN24 package measuring just 4mm x 4mm x 0.9mm.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the TC78B025FTG implements a 1-Hall drive system and current sense resistor-elimination system (Advanced Current Detection System &#8211; ACDS) to reduce the number of external components and contribute to space saving on PCBs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toshiba Electronics Europe announcesd the launch of the TC78B025FTG, a three-phase brushless motor driver IC with a rotation speed control (closed loop control) function.
