{"id":7868,"date":"2018-06-10T10:00:45","date_gmt":"2018-06-10T09:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=7868"},"modified":"2018-06-11T09:23:08","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T08:23:08","slug":"active-clamp-mosfet-series-for-relay-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/active-clamp-mosfet-series-for-relay-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Active-clamp MOSFET series for relay drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the launch of a new MOSFET series that incorporates an active-clamp structure with a built-in diode between the drain and gate terminals.<\/p>\n<p>With the requirement for a minimum of external components the single <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.toshiba.semicon-storage.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SSM3K357R and the dual SSM6N357R<\/a><\/span> are suited to drive inductive loads, such as mechanical relays or solenoids.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe new 357 series protects drivers against possible damage from voltage surges, as caused by back EMF from the inductive load.<\/p>\n<p>It integrates a pull-down resistor, series resistor and Zener diode, all of which helps reduce the external part count and save PCB space.<\/p>\n<p>The devices withstands a maximum drain-source voltage (VDSS) of 60V and a maximum drain current (ID) of 0.65A. The low drain-source on-resistance (RDS(ON)) of 800m\u03a9 at VGS=5.0V ensures efficient operation with minimal heat generation.<\/p>\n<p>The single SSM3K357R is housed in a 2.9 x 2.4 x 0.8mm SOT-23F class package, and suitable for relay and solenoid control due to the low operating voltage of 3.0V. As the device is qualified according to AEC-Q101 it is suited for automotive as well as many industrial applications.<\/p>\n<p>The dual SSM6N357R is housed in a 2.9mm x 2.8mm x 0.8mm TSOP6F class package, which enables usage of two devices on a board requiring 42% less mounting area than using two of the single devices.<\/p>\n<p>The SSM3K357R and the SSM6N357R are already shipping in volume quantities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced the launch of a new MOSFET series that incorporates an active-clamp structure with a built-in diode between the drain and gate terminals.
