{"id":810,"date":"2017-09-06T11:59:17","date_gmt":"2017-09-06T10:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=810"},"modified":"2017-09-18T10:45:49","modified_gmt":"2017-09-18T09:45:49","slug":"digitalisation-on-the-menu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/digitalisation-on-the-menu\/","title":{"rendered":"Digitalisation on the menu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ABB to present at National Food Technology Event in Canada, September 13-14, 2017\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Global automation and robotics expert, <a href=\"http:\/\/new.abb.com\/food-beverage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ABB<\/strong><\/a> will be at the National Food Technology Event in Montreal, from September 13-14, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Organised by the Canadian government and the Food Processing Council of Quebec (Conseil de la transformation alimentaire du Qu\u00e9bec (CTAQ)), Markus Brettschneider, group senior vice president and general manager of global food and beverage applications at ABB, will be presenting on the first day of the event.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<!-- Engineer News Network --><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"6176629146\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nThe event is the first of its kind from the CTAQ and is an opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large companies to learn about the government\u2019s plans for ensuring sustainability of the Canadian food industry.<\/p>\n<p>Focusing on key industry topics, such as automation, Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence, the two-day event will provide businesses with knowledge on how to reach out to international markets.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to presenting at the conference, key leaders of the food and beverage team of ABB Canada will be hosting a technology immersion tour of the new ABB campus and Customer Innovation Centre in Montreal, which opened in May 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The primary focus of the tour is to show guests how ABB\u2019s Ability digitalisation platform can be used by businesses to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) around cost, safety, quality and sustainability, with a series of presentations and workshops.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigitalisation is a key topic that many of our food and beverage customers across Canada discuss with us,\u201d explained Nathalie Pilon, president of ABB Canada. \u201cAs consumer buying habits change and the demand for greater choice grows, our customers are looking at how to ensure they can quickly adapt their manufacturing processes to deliver the quality products that consumers are demanding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ABB launched its ABB Ability solutions earlier in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The platform brings together a selection of digital technologies that food and beverage plant engineers can integrate into their systems to improve process and plant safety.<\/p>\n<p>The offering includes technologies such as ABB\u2019s smart sensors for motors, which bring connectivity to existing industrial motors, as well as automation systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES) to maximize production efficiency and traceability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe food and beverage industry alone brought in 32.3 billion dollars in exports to Canada in 2016.
