{"id":8695,"date":"2018-07-30T08:00:59","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T07:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=8695"},"modified":"2018-07-28T14:18:12","modified_gmt":"2018-07-28T13:18:12","slug":"precision-dispensing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/precision-dispensing\/","title":{"rendered":"Precision dispensing improves quality and reduces rejects of automobile parts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The automobile manufacturing industry places high demands on suppliers with regard to process reliability, quality and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>To meet these challenges, a preeflow customer had to optimise his application of a two-part sealant to make a form-in-place (FIP) gasket.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nIn his previous process, the dispensed sealant bead exceeded the tolerance limits at the point where the gasket loop completed and the sealant overlapped itself.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a key process variable &#8211; the material dispense pressure &#8211; could not be monitored during application.<\/p>\n<p>The result was a high reject rate, and poor productivity due to process variability and the resultant need for heightened and laborious QA inspection.<\/p>\n<p>The preeflow team helped the customer to significantly improve the\u00a0production process through implementation of more accurate dispensing technology.<\/p>\n<p>For process reliability, a two-part dispensing system from\u00a0preeflow is now used.<\/p>\n<p>The <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.intertronics.co.uk\/case-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eco-DUO600 is a volumetric metering, mixing and dispensing unit<\/a><\/span> which uses a progressive cavity pump principle to deliver<br \/>\nprecise amounts of the mixed sealant.<\/p>\n<p>The preeflow systems have precision control of the material output (which can be dynamically changed); this means that the FIP gasket application is very consistent along its entire dispensed path, including at the problematic area of the join.<\/p>\n<p>The EC200-DUO controller includes material pressure monitoring and control.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8697\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8697\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8697\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/INTERTRONICS3225-preeflow-eco-DUO600-1-800x450.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8697\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Completed material application with even transition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The preeflow eco-DUO system can be connected to the preeflow flow screen monitoring unit, a device for showing the material process pressures on a graphic display.<\/p>\n<p>Stable process for mass production is very important. With the help of the eco-DUO pressure sensors in combination with the flowscreen, the dispensing parameters can be displayed graphically in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Pressure fluctuations that can occur, for example, due to a blocked or defective dispensing needle, contamination, or cured material, are displayed in real time.
