{"id":8896,"date":"2018-08-16T07:00:56","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T06:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=8896"},"modified":"2018-08-15T11:19:19","modified_gmt":"2018-08-15T10:19:19","slug":"low-noise-measurement-of-motion-on-three-axes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/low-noise-measurement-of-motion-on-three-axes\/","title":{"rendered":"Low-noise measurement of motion on three axes"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/small-low-on-resistance-mosfet-relays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rutronik UK<\/a><\/span> has added the <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rutronik.com\/bma400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BMA400 accelerometer<\/a><\/span> from Bosch Sensortec to its portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>It features ultra-low power consumption without compromising on performance.<\/p>\n<p>The BMA400 allows continuous, low-noise measurement of motion on three axes with 12-bit digital resolution and several selectable bandwidths.<\/p>\n<p>The ultra-efficient sensor detects tilting movements, linear motion, and tapping\/double tapping.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nIt also tracks the level of activity and counts the number of steps taken, making it ideal for a number of applications in various areas, including the smart home IoT, wearable devices, and energy management.<\/p>\n<p>The integrated step counter and embedded activity tracking function consume just 4 \u00b5A of power in total.<\/p>\n<p>In ultra-energy-saving mode, the power consumption can be reduced even further to 800 nA.<\/p>\n<p>An automatic wake-up function can then return the sensor to normal operating mode when required.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of power consumption and noise suppression, the BMA400 is highly configurable.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the greatest possible flexibility is ensured when integrating the sensor into always-on low power systems.<\/p>\n<p>With standard data capture, the acceleration data is continuously read out via the sensor\u2019s digital interface and processed by an external microcontroller or processor.<\/p>\n<p>An integrated 1kB FIFO buffer as well as an auto wake-up mode and an auto power-saving mode are also available.<\/p>\n<p>During normal operation, a current consumption of less than 4\u00b5A is possible. With the plug and play function, data processing takes place in the chip itself.<\/p>\n<p>If the sensor detects predefined situations, it triggers an interrupt signal.<\/p>\n<p>Both the cause of the interrupt signal and other recorded data can be read out later on.<\/p>\n<p>The sensor is compatible with a wide range of VDD and VDDIO supply voltages; the performance and power consumption remain constant at all times.<\/p>\n<p>With digital I\u00b2C and SPI interfaces (three- or four-wire) and dimensions measuring 2mm x 2mm x 0.95mm, it can be easily integrated into various designs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rutronik UK has added the BMA400 accelerometer from Bosch Sensortec to its portfolio.
