{"id":9331,"date":"2018-10-04T10:33:11","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T09:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=9331"},"modified":"2018-10-04T10:33:11","modified_gmt":"2018-10-04T09:33:11","slug":"rs-components-launches-first-plcnext-industrial-controller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/rs-components-launches-first-plcnext-industrial-controller\/","title":{"rendered":"RS Components launches first PLCnext industrial controller"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/rs-components-adds-high-performing-35w-150w-chassis-mount-smps-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RS Components<\/a><\/span> (RS) has introduced the first programmable logic controller (PLC) to be based upon Phoenix Contact\u2019s PLCnext Technology open control platform.<\/p>\n<p>Aimed at distributed modular control applications in industrial automation and machine building research, the new <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.rs-online.com\/web\/c\/?searchTerm=pxc_plcnext_0918_uk&amp;searchType=Offers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PLCnext Control system<\/a><\/span> combines the robustness and security of a classic PLC with the openness and flexibility of IIoT (industrial internet of things) smart devices.<\/p>\n<p>The first Phoenix Contact PLCnext Control device available from RS, designated the AXC F 2152, features a high-performance dual-core 800 MHz ARM Cortex processor with 512 MByte of memory.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nHoused in a rugged, compact 127 x 45 x 75 mm enclosure, it also includes an OPC UA server, fieldbus manager, diagnostic loggers, trace controllers, and automatic access to Phoenix Contact\u2019s direct cloud connection, known as Proficloud.<\/p>\n<p>Young engineers today tend to be proficient in high-level development environments, but often lack the PLC programming expertise of previous generations.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9332\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9332\" style=\"width: 159px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/RS800-PLCnext_Control.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9332\" src=\"https:\/\/engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/RS800-PLCnext_Control-159x300.png\" alt=\"RS Components launches first PLCnext industrial controller\" width=\"159\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9332\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Open control platform allows engineers to use their first-choice programming tools and smart devices<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The PLCnext platform is an enhancement to classical IEC 61131 compliant PLC programming that allows developers to program using a choice of high-level languages.<\/p>\n<p>Open-source software and apps can be incorporated flexibly within the system.<\/p>\n<p>The real-time performance and data consistency associated with proprietary, device-specific PLC coding are maintained while the limitations are avoided.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple developers can work independently using their preferred development tools, their contributions being captured seamlessly into a single project.<\/p>\n<p>The result is that\u00a0 applications can be developed significantly faster than previously.<\/p>\n<p>PLCnext Control is based on an embedded Linux architecture, expanded to include real-time capability in its core. Linux is stable, supports secure communications and, because it runs on many different hardware platforms, allows scaling and use of future processor architectures.<\/p>\n<p>The PLCnext Engineer engineering software platform uses automation modules and object-oriented programming to provide a single optimised user interface for all engineering tasks, saving time and cost on both training and project work.<\/p>\n<p>Consistent operation worldwide is assured by IEC 61131-3 compliance, while functional safety programming is certified in accordance with IEC 61508.<\/p>\n<p>The AXC F 2152 PLCnext Control device from Phoenix Contact is shipping now from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RS Components (RS) has introduced the first programmable logic controller (PLC) to be based upon Phoenix Contact\u2019s PLCnext Technology open control platform.
