{"id":9451,"date":"2018-10-19T07:00:59","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T06:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=9451"},"modified":"2018-10-18T10:55:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T09:55:13","slug":"bi-directional-dc-dc-converters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/bi-directional-dc-dc-converters\/","title":{"rendered":"Energy storage systems benefit from isolated, 1U high, 11kW bi-directional DC-DC converters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uk.tdk-lambda.com\/eza11kw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TDK-Lambda brand EZA11K-320240 bi\u2011directional DC-DC converters<\/a><\/span>, suitable for use with energy storage systems.<\/p>\n<p>Rated at 11kW, this 1U high product will operate off a 240\u2013400Vdc source from a high voltage grid and provide 150\u2013300Vdc for charging lithium ion batteries.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nWhen grid power is not available, the converter will seamlessly transition to drawing stored energy from the batteries to deliver DC power back to the grid.<\/p>\n<p>The EZA11kW is designed for use in cost-saving peak demand storage systems, emergency back-up power and recycling waste motor braking energy.<\/p>\n<p>The compact EZA11kW measures just 43.6mm high, 422.8mm wide and 530mm deep, and has the highest power density for an isolated bi-directional converter in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Up to five converters can be connected in parallel for larger scale systems.<br \/>\nThe use of digital control techniques, SiC (Silicon Carbide) MOSFETs and low loss core technology allows the converter to operate with efficiencies of up to 95%.<\/p>\n<p>An RS-485 serial communication interface allows remote adjustment of the voltage and current settings, battery\/grid under and over voltage levels and monitoring of alarm signals. Serial connection of multiple converters is possible.<\/p>\n<p>The EZA11kW has an input to output isolation of 2,200Vac, an input\/output to ground isolation of 2,000Vac and 400Vac for signals to ground.<\/p>\n<p>Safety certifications include UL60950-1, CSA60950-1, EN60950-1 and the product is CE marked to the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives.\u00a0 The product carries a five-year warranty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the TDK-Lambda brand EZA11K-320240 bi\u2011directional DC-DC converters, suitable for use with energy storage systems.
