{"id":9762,"date":"2018-11-19T08:53:15","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T08:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/?p=9762"},"modified":"2018-11-19T08:53:15","modified_gmt":"2018-11-19T08:53:15","slug":"engineering-professionals-are-some-of-the-most-likely-to-dislike-their-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/engineering-professionals-are-some-of-the-most-likely-to-dislike-their-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"Engineering professionals are some of the most likely to DISLIKE their jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we approach the end of the year, a time when many professionals begin to get itchy feet about their jobs, new research from <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cv-library.co.uk\/jobs\/engineering?utm_source=press%20release&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=press-release&amp;utm_content=dislike-your-job\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CV-Library<\/a><\/span> reveals that 45% of workers in the engineering sector confess to disliking their current job.<\/p>\n<p>The job site conducted a survey of 1,100 workers, to find out how many people enjoyed their role and found that almost two thirds (61.5%) of engineering professionals think about quitting every day.<br \/>\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block; text-align: center;\" data-ad-layout=\"in-article\" data-ad-format=\"fluid\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-7565662001938327\" data-ad-slot=\"7585079586\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><br \/>\nWhat\u2019s more, the survey uncovered the industries across the UK where professionals disliked their jobs the most, with engineering making the list of the top 10:<br \/>\n* Legal \u2013 50% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Automotive \u2013 46.2% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Recruitment \u2013 45.5% dislike their current job<br \/>\n<strong>* Engineering \u2013 45% dislike their current job<\/strong><br \/>\n* Catering \u2013 43.3% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Retail \u2013 42.9% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Construction \u2013 38.2% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* IT \u2013 36.7% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Manufacturing \u2013 36.4% dislike their current job<br \/>\n* Marketing \u2013 31.6% dislike their current job<\/p>\n<p>Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of <span class=\"highlight highlight-blue\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineernewsnetwork.com\/blog\/engineers-reveal-the-top-signs-you-might-be-getting-fired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CV-Library<\/a><\/span>, comments:\u201cAs we approach the end of the year, many workers begin to consider whether it\u2019s time for a career change, perhaps even making work-based resolutions for the year ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJob satisfaction is important to today\u2019s professionals \u2013 and this is understandable! Work is a big part of our lives, especially as we spend a significant amount of our time there. Enjoying what you do is extremely important, particularly when it comes to establishing a good work-life balance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The survey also sought to understand why workers in the engineering sector were so unhappy in their current roles, identifying the main cause as not being in the role they really want (49%).<\/p>\n<p>Other reasons include poor company culture (48.1%), feeling undervalued (44.4%), being underpaid (40.7%) and not getting on with their boss (40%).<\/p>\n<p>Biggins concludes: \u201cIf you find yourself unhappy at work, it\u2019s first important to identify why you feel this way and put measures in place to try and make things better. You might find you\u2019re able to fall in love with your job again.
