Kollmorgen expands its Essentials portfolio with the new 8-axis PCMM2G motion controller

8-axis controller and 480V servo drive

Kollmorgen has expanded its Essentials portfolio with the launch of an 8-axis variant of its PCMM2G programmable motion controller. The development coincides with the release of a new high-voltage servo drive with support for 240–480VAC up to 4kW. The products are distributed in the UK by INMOCO and the expansion of the Essentials portfolio is designed to support a broader range of applications and motion control requirements.

The new PCMM2G Essentials controller provides the same performance and integration capabilities of Kollmorgen’s original PCMM2G while providing a price point scaled for lower-axis-count applications.

The new 8-axis Essentials variant of the PCMM2G programmable motion controller offers functionality including indexing and positioning, enabling machine builders to achieve application requirements with Kollmorgen’s motion control performance. The new Essentials controller also offers a compact footprint for straightforward integration to a machine or cabinet.

Complete integration

The new PCMM2G Essentials programmable motion controller adds to Kollmorgen’s integrated Essentials motion system, which includes a servo motor, servo drive, and software, with motion programming achieved with EC 61131-3 languages or Kollmorgen’s visual-based Pipe Network. Full motion control support from a single supplier reduces system complexity, engineering effort and commissioning time.

High-voltage servo drive

Coinciding with the launch of the 8-axis PCMM2G controller, Kollmorgen has also added a new high-voltage servo drive to its Essentials motion control system. The Kollmorgen Essentials high-voltage servo drive provides support for 240–480VAC, three-phase input, and pushes power up to 4kW.

The development aligns with standard industrial power used across North America and Europe, and enables deployment in applications including automotive parts manufacturing, logistics facilities, material processing, and machine tools. Meeting the higher power and voltage capability without requiring a transformer, the new drive improves energy efficiency and simplifies overall system design.
