Engineering professionals confident about employment as job applications soar in weeks leading to Brexit

Despite uncertainty in the weeks leading up to a supposed Brexit, new data from CV-Library, the UK independent job board, reveals that employers in the engineering industry will have a larger pool of talent to choose from.

In fact, the findings show there was a 25.3% increase in job applications month-on-month, as jobs advertised in the sector rose by 4.6%.

The findings, which compared job market data from March 2019 with the previous month, also revealed that salaries for new engineering jobs increased by a marginal 0.3% month-on-month, though they also fell by 0.3% year-on-year.

As well as this, the amount of candidates in the engineering industry registering their CVs online with CV-Library has increased by a staggering 36% year-on-year, suggesting that more individualsare starting to consider looking for jobs.

Lee Biggins, founder and CEO of CV-Library, comments: “With job applications on the rise, candidates are finally starting to react to the engineering industry’s jobs boom, though it appears that employer confidence isn’t quite keeping up with this demand. As Brexit looks set to drag out for a while longer, this is a key time for engineering firms to hire, especially as they have a larger pool of talent to choose from.”
