Digital isolator line-up with low-power quad-channel devices

Toshiba has expanded its DCL34xx0B series of standard digital isolators with four new quad-channel devices for industrial automation equipment. The new devices achieve typical current consumption of 0.2mA per channel while supporting data rates of up to 25Mbps. Applications include programmable logic controllers (PLCs), I/O interfaces, sensors, actuators, motor drives, inverters and switching power supplies.

The DCL34xx0B series operates from supply voltages of 2.25V to 5.5V and provides a minimum isolation voltage of 3000Vrms. Housed in a compact SSOP16 package, the devices support operation across a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Using Toshiba’s magnetic-coupling isolation technology, the new devices provide isolated signal transmission while maintaining low power consumption. Common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) is specified at 30kV/μs (min).

The new additions comprise the DCL340L0B and DCL340H0B with four forward channels and zero reverse channels (4:0), and the DCL342L0B and DCL342H0B with two forward channels and two reverse channels (2:2). Together with the existing DCL341L0B and DCL341H0B devices, which provide a three-forward, one-reverse channel configuration (3:1) for applications including SPI interfaces, the DCL34xx0B series offers flexible channel configurations for a wide range of industrial communication and control systems.

The DCL34xx0B family complements Toshiba’s wider portfolio of digital isolators, which includes the DCL54xx01A and DCL52xx00 series for industrial equipment and the DCM34xx01 and DCM32xx00 series for automotive applications. This enables designers to select devices based on communication speed, channel configuration and application requirements.
