FDB power protection keeps Network DC immune with K H Engineering

As contractors to Southern Rail/GTR, K H Engineering Services find themselves in frequent need to deal with protection of mains power equipment within areas of high DC power usage.

This specialist protection is required for all electrical mains supplies likely to be used by the public – such as socket outlets, ticket machines, hand driers, water heaters and more recently electric vehicle charging points to BS 7671 in station car parks.

The problem of course is to eliminate nuisance tripping from induced currents which would activate a cut-off in normal equipment.

Fortunately for K H  Engineering Services, the FDB 11 from FDB Electrical is a proven DC immune solution to this problem and on the DC approved list which makes it ideal for use on the Southern Line and other lines from North London to Kent and through to Portsmouth where they are recognised electrical maintainers.

Explained Qualifying Supervisor Tony Mace: “We have found the FDB 11 units excellent for all our installation work, whether it be renovation or new
build. We have always found the sales team at FDB to be efficient, timely, very competitive and always helpful.”

“The FDB 11 has proven itself extremely reliable and flexible since we can readily obtain it in a range of standard ratings which suit our need for 16A or 32A current capacity with 30mA trip DC immune RCDs. When required we can also get them in multiple housings.”
