Filter bags with internal pre-filter for efficient and safe separation of particles and oil

Whether paints and coatings, chemicals, or process water – there are high requirements for the purity of liquid in numerous industrial applications. Filter bags made of polypropylene (PP) with defined nominal retention rates provide valuable services in safely retaining unwanted particles. However, sometimes an additional process step is required to absorb oil. To combine particle retention and oil absorption in a single process step, Eaton’s Filtration Division has now launched the new SENTINEL MAXPO and DURAGAF MAXPOXL filter bag ranges.

The fully-welded and with increased filter material thickness, SENTINEL MAXPO and DURAGAF MAXPOXL needle felt filter bags, made of PP, offer optimal particle removal with defined retention rates of 1 to 200μm. Their design ensures easy handling, while an inner core, open on one side and comprised of a porous fibre matrix of pure, meltblown PP, serves as an internal pre-filter and enhances their filtration performance with powerful oil absorption. “This 2-in-1 function offers users the absorption performance of a cartridge filter and saves them an additional process step – and thus reducing costs and efforts in media treatment,” explains Wim Callaert, Senior Product Manager at Eaton’s Filtration Division.

The single open-end inner core is also less prone to blocking than other designs. Thanks to these and other design optimisations, the service life of the new filter bag ranges has been significantly increased. For applications where maximum capacity is required, DURAGAF MAXPOXL filter bags offer an additional two to five times longer lifespan thanks to a particularly thick extended-life filter material. “When capacity is reached, the fully-welded construction, along with practical handles on the bypass-proof SENTINEL sealing ring, makes it easier to change filter bags safely and cleanly,” continued Callaert.

The new SENTINEL filter bags from the MAXPO range and DURAGAF filter bags from the MAXPOXL range are now available. Both ranges are offered with nominal retention rates of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100μm, SENTINEL filter bags are also available with a 200 μm retention rate. They are suitable for optimising the filtration performance in a wide range of applications such as in water treatment, chemicals, paints and coatings, adhesives, petrochemicals and many more.

To achieve the optimal combination of quality, performance and safety, SENTINEL MAXPO and DURAGAF MAXPOXL filter bags can be inserted into Eaton’s TOPLINE single bag and MAXILINE multi-bag filter housings. The flow through the side inlet on the top of the housing enables optimal sealing of the filter bags, easy replacement and reduces product loss to a minimum.
