New nitrogen boosting system

Designed for easy integration with any nitrogen generation system, the four models (H075, H110, H150 and H185) deliver up to 350 bar pressure outlet and flow rates up to 56 m3/hour on the H185 model

High-pressure compressor manufacturer, Reavell, part of the Ingersoll Rand Group, has launched Boost, a plug-and-play range of four nitrogen boosters.

Designed for easy integration with any nitrogen generation system, the four models (H075, H110, H150 and H185) deliver up to 350 bar pressure outlet and flow rates up to 56 m3/hour on the H185 model.

On-site nitrogen generation has been gaining popularity over recent years, using existing compressors to convert air to guaranteed purity nitrogen.

The process can save operators up to 90% of the cost of bought-in gas with payback in less than two years for a company using liquid nitrogen, or as little as one year where gas cylinders are being used.

Traditionally, customers will purchase nitrogen from a supplier, either as gas in small high-pressure cylinders or in liquid form, stored in mini-tanks or bulk storage vessels.

However, obtaining and maintaining a readily available supply of nitrogen is not without its drawbacks.

As well as finding a reliable vendor and arranging deliveries and payment, companies require sufficient space to store the gas; alongside a thorough procedure to monitor and manage the supply safely.

This is where the Boost package with its sophisticated control logic can pay dividends, as Dan Harper, Product Manager from Reavell explains: “Nitrogen is generated typically at around 7 bar pressure, but there are many applications, such as laser cutting or injection moulding for example, which require the gas to be available at much higher pressures, up to as much as 40 bar.

“Not only does the new Reavell Boost system fulfil this demand for higher-pressure gas as required, but it also enables customers to store nitrogen at maximum required pressures up to 350bar, to help meet peaks and troughs in demand.

“This offers numerous benefits. Surplus gas can be generated and, because this is stored at a higher pressure than the application demands, it requires less storage space. This is a key benefit for users as site limitations, particularly around available floor space and installation costs are often of prime concern.

“Additionally, unlike many conventional nitrogen boosting systems, which need to top-up the gas levels constantly, Reavell Boost’s higher capacity means that the nitrogen stored can deliver up to two days’ supply, helping to improve efficiency.”

High-pressure connection

The Boost system can be connected directly to the high-pressure hose, helping those customers currently using bottled gas to save considerable time in disconnecting and re-attaching the gas supply.

Intelligent logic controller

A sophisticated control system monitors both the nitrogen inlet and outlet pressures continuously, to ensure that there is always sufficient gas stored at the required pressure.

By constantly controlling the target pressure in this way, energy consumption is reduced, for lower cost of ownership.

Data including average run times and on load hours can also be accessed remotely, to ensure performance is maintained.

Range of options

The system is available with medium and high-pressure options, ranging from 25.9 m3/h flow rate on the 7.5kW H075 model to 56m3/h on the 18.5kW H185.

It is compatible with a wide range of nitrogen booster compressors, filtration and dryer options, to complement the company’s OneAir range of nitrogen generation equipment.

Market-leading final delivery temperature of just 11oC above ambient helps to maximise carbon filtration life, for reduced service and maintenance intervals.

Easy maintenance

Ease of maintenance has been considered at every stage of the design. With reduced service points and plenty of space for filter changes, routine service is quicker and simpler.

Peter Satchwell, Global Sales Director from Reavell concludes: “The new Boost system from Reavell, offers a standard, off-the-shelf product from a brand normally associated with bespoke solutions.  We can now offer our customers the high reliability, functionality and quality associated with the Reavell brand in a readily-available packaged solution.”
