Signal transformers for battery monitoring applications

Dual- and single-channel isolation transformer modules from Bourns meet automotive standard
RS Components (RS) has announced availability of a pair of BMS (battery monitoring system) signal transformers from Bourns.

The new SM91501AL and SM91502AL are dual- and single-channel isolation transformer modules, respectively, with both devices offering common-mode chokes for noise rejection in BMS applications.

Offering compliance with the AEC-Q200 standard for automotive applications, the modules are also implemented in reference designs with Analog Device’s LTC6804-1/6811 and NXP’s MC33771/33772 battery monitoring devices.

Further electrical characteristics include working voltages of 1600Vdc and 1000Vdc for the SM91501AL and SM91502AL, respectively, and a 4300V DC high-potential isolation voltage.

Other features of the models include an extended temperature range from –40 to +125°C; support for serial daisy-chain isoSPI communication; and compliance with the RoHS directive.

The Bourns SM91501AL and SM91502AL are shipping from RS in the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
