Bridging the science, technology, engineering and mathematics gender gap

Women make up less than a quarter of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce in the UK.

STEM Women has assisted more than 100 graduate employers, helping companies attract female applicants to their graduate scheme, internship and placement opportunities.

STEM Women organise events that bring together female university STEM students and relevant employers at female-friendly community events throughout the UK and Ireland.

“Women are underrepresented in STEM, and we want to grow a community that brings women, who are either studying or have studied a STEM subject, together with employers and inspirational keynote speakers. Our events offer employers, students and graduates with a STEM background a chance to meet and network in a nurturing environment,” Said Sophie Chadwick, STEM Women Events Manager.

This autumn, STEM Women is running seven events across the UK and are holding an event in Dublin for the first time:

List of Events

16th October: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, Edinburgh

23rd October: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, London

30 October: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, Manchester

5th November: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, Birmingham

13th November: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, Bristol

20th November: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, Dublin

27th November: STEM Women Autumn Community Event, London

All STEM Women events feature the opportunity to network with top employers such as NatWest and KPMG, as well as innovative SMEs, who are looking for talented women to drive their business forward. There are also inspirational talks from influential keynote speakers.

STEM Women have received fantastic feedback on past events, with Julia Daffy from NatWest stating that the highlight for her was “Meeting so many wonderful women, all very bright and intelligent, who have not perhaps thought about investment banking as a career for them. It’s great to see them come and listen to us and really open their eyes to a career in investment banking.”
