Multitester for basic electrical measurements

Megger's new MET1000 multitester

The new Megger MET1000 has been designed specifically to meet the needs of electricians and contractors working on low-voltage industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations. This compact multitester is suitable for making basic electrical measurements quickly, conveniently and safely. It is also supplied with a convenient belt pouch at no extra cost.

An important benefit of the MET1000 is that it has a replaceable lead set, so should the test leads ever be damaged, they can be replaced easily and inexpensively.

Other key features include automatic polarity detection, automatic detection of AC and DC voltage, and a fast-response LED bar display that complements the main backlit digital display. These capabilities, together with its IP65 ingress protection rating, make the MET1000 a versatile go-anywhere instrument, while its CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V safety ratings, in line with IEC 61010, mean that it is suitable for use on any part of low-voltage installation.

The MET1000 has a built-in open-jaw current sensor that makes measuring AC currents up to 200A fast, easy and safe. It measures AC and DC voltage up to 999.9V, even if its batteries are exhausted, and resistance up to 50 kΩ. It also offers continuity checking with audible confirmation, phase rotation sensing for three-phase systems, simple single-pole voltage detection and an integrated torch.

The instrument features data hold and a unique self-test function that provides extra safety by allowing users to quickly verify that it is working correctly.

“Every electrician and contractor wants an instrument that can be easily carried to make quick measurements whenever and wherever the need arises,” said Peter Wade of Megger, “and we’ve developed the MET1000 to meet this need. It’s small and light, yet also tough and dependable. It offers all of the basic functionality that users need checks and it’s very affordable. It will quickly become a firm favourite with anyone who uses it.”
