Integrated QR-code e-chains offers easy part identification

Plastic energy chain specialist igus is now integrating QR-codes onto its e-chain systems to make original part identification easy.

Simply locate the code, scan it with a QR-reader app and it directs users to the online portal that provides all the information required.

“For maintenance engineers who work with a lot of different energy chain systems or designers with a product sample on their desk, instant access to all the relevant information available on the individual component or the particular e-chain system is crucial,” explains Justin Leonard, director at igus. “By integrating a QR-code on the side parts and crossbars, igus simplifies this process by directing users to the e-chain system’s online portal.”

Using a common smartphone QR-reader app, the engineer scans the QR-code on the part to instantly display the corresponding e-chain online.

Here, the ability to identify the part, check pricing and select to order for fast delivery is simple.

General information about the e-chain, including CAD drawings, is also available, as well a step-by-step assembly instructions and videos.

QR-codes are currently being integrated on parts in the E4.1L system.
