Alarm annunciator that can help to keep operators safe and plant running smoothly

The MTL RTK SmartAlarm from Eaton is a new critical alarm annunciator that offers flexibility of configuration and low cost of ownership, making it an ideal choice for process, power and utilities applications

Power management company Eaton has introduced the MTL RTK SmartAlarm, a feature-rich critical alarm annunciator that can help to keep operators safe and plant running smoothly through the alarm and event monitoring of critical processes.

Fitting into a standard industry footprint, this compact, advanced alarm monitoring system is defined by its flexibility of configuration and low cost of ownership, making it an ideal choice for process, power and utilities applications.

The RTK SmartAlarm is designed as a complete alarm system with integral, audible, relays and pushbuttons and offers a most cost-effective solution for monitoring critical process alarms.

Incorporating ISA 18-1 1979 (R1992) alarm sequence programmable via the front panel-mounted USB connector, the SmartAlarm also accommodates optional signal duplicating relays, dual horn relays and LED display, which makes it an ideal choice where full functionality is required and space is a premium.

The RTK SmartAlarm comes in four package sizes that offers one of the industry’s lowest operating power profiles for a similar device. The DIN size modules can be specified in 8, 16 24 and 32 channel versions to provide alarm visualisation in almost any panel.

Front accessible and pluggable LEDs provide alarm discrimination by colour (red, yellow, white, blue and green).

A USB programming port on the front panel allows access to change any parameter behind an IP54 rated plug, making configuration easier. Four output relays can be used and configured as group relays, audible relays or diagnostic relays.

Each RTK SmartAlarm is also supplied with four mappable pushbuttons and internal audible to cover almost all alarm applications.

The modules are equipped with an integral, universal power supply for direct connection to either 19-72VDC or 85-264VAC (88-300VDC).

Comprehensive diagnostics, warning LEDs and common relays are used to provide indication of any problems with the alarm system. As an additional option, dual redundant PSUs can be fitted internally to increase uptime for critical applications.

Where customers require to use their own field contact voltage (FCV) for alarm inputs, the SmartAlarm can accommodate an external voltage source from 24V, 48V, 125V or 220Vac/dc.

The RTK SmartAlarm brings together many years of development in alarm annunciator technology and builds on the functionality of the field proven RTK UC625. It is part of the Eaton MTL RTK product range, which offers flexible, reliable monitoring and notification for process alarms in all safe and hazardous area industrial applications.
