The company, a manufacturer of vibration sensors, previously sold its products through a distribution partner, but has now set up Hansford Sensors Inc. – a wholly owned subsidiary that will handle sales in the USA.
The company’s new office, near Greenville, South Carolina, is run by Vice President of Sales Martin Armson, who has spent his entire career in instrumentation sales at several leading companies in the sector.
Hansford Sensors’ main priority this year will be to recruit a network of sales partners across the country. It estimates US demand for vibration sensors is up to $50m, and is aiming to secure 10% of that market within three years. The company already has two significant US-based OEMs as customers.
“This is the latest step forward in our plan to meet the vibration monitoring needs of companies around the world,” commented Chris Hansford, managing director of Hansford Sensors. “We can now deliver unrivalled service to the US market and offer them our full range of equipment, to enable them to optimise their operations.”
In the past three years, Hansford Sensors has set up direct sales operations in Germany and India and seen total sales leap by 25%. The company says that its presence in these countries – as well as Australia and in the UK – gives it a distinct advantage over some of its US-based competitors.
