As businesses make progress on their journey towards Industry 4.0, it is a necessity to be able to share large volumes of data across growing numbers of devices, in real time. This can only be done if there is sufficient network bandwidth available.

So says Mitsubishi Electric product manager André Hartkopf, explaining that CC-Link IE, with its gigabit performance, is the perfect network choice for Industry 4.0. “CC-Link IE is an open, high speed, high performance industrial Ethernet-based network, with the broadest bandwidth available at 1 gigabit per second.

“CC-Link IE can also be a key enabler for boosting productivity, with the high performance and broad bandwidth combining to increase overall system performance,” he continues.

Because of this, Mitsubishi Electric supports CC-Link IE across its full range of products, including PLCs, HMIs, Robots, Servo motion systems and variable speed drives.

Independent market research has identified CC-Link IE as experiencing rapid growth, with close to 20 million devices deployed in the field and growing numbers of products coming to market each year.

“One of the benefits of working with the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) is that they cooperate with us on compliance and conformance testing of our CC-Link IE products,” says Hartkopf. “This ensures that our products for CC-Link IE networks will work smoothly with those from other manufacturers.

“Moreover, we benefit from the global promotional capabilities that CLPA offers to their members. In this way, we get in touch with a wide variety of different customers and industries.”

The guaranteed compatibility makes CC-Link IE a proposition for users looking to source and integrate best-of-breed solutions for any given application.
