What is the alternative to busbars for storage and retrieval systems?

The micro flizz MF10 energy chain system

The narrow, compact and fast movements found in storage and retrieval units are common usage scenarios for busbar systems.

However, a big disadvantage is that they can only be used for power transmission.

With the advent of smart warehousing, being without control and data signals is not an option.

The micro flizz MF10 energy chain system overcomes this by guiding power, data and other media, such as fluids, simultaneously in the horizontal and vertical plane for travels up to 100 metres. It is also fast with travel speeds up to 6m/s and accelerations up to 4m/s2.

The modular system consists of an energy chain, flexible chainflex cables suitable for tight bend radii and an aluminium guide trough. It can also carry fibre optic cables suitable for data rates up to 10Gbit/s.

Aside from it being maintenance-free, one of the main advantages of the micro flizz is its special construction. Integrated ‘wings’ hold the chain firmly in at all times in a special groove in the upper and lower part of the trough.

Together with plastic springs on the crossbars of the e-chain, they provide quiet movement – this reduces friction, wear, energy consumption and unnecessary noise generation.
