Drives and Controls: WEG enables real time monitoring of motors

At this year’s Drives and Controls exhibition (NEC Birmingham, 10 to 12th April 2018), WEG will showcase a full range of energy efficient motors and drive solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications.

WEG, a leading global manufacturer of motors and drive technology, will be launching its brand new Industry 4.0 compatable motor scanning device at this year’s Drives and Controls exhibition.

This new technology is targeted at engineers, who are tasked with monitoring the health of their installed motors in order to guarantee uptime and efficiency of processes.

Essentially, the new technology allows for real time monitoring of motor performance via a smart device App.

Based on the data that is captured, engineers can make real time performance based decisions around preventative maintenance schedules in order to ensure production uptime. Also on display will be WEG’s extensive range of energy efficient motors and drives.

Highlights include their recently expanded WG20 geared motors portfolio with helical, parallel-shaft and helical bevel gear drives for rated torques up to 4500Nm.

The housings of the new gear units are manufactured from grey cast iron and are especially sturdy.

The gearboxes are ideal for demanding applications and are available with high-performance motors in energy efficiency classes up to IE4, providing a good power to weight ratio.

“In line with an ever evolving market place, WEG is focusing on engineering technology within the field of Industry 4.0 that have direct benefits for customers at a commercially viable cost” stated Marek Lukaszczyk, European & Middle East Marketing Manager “The new technology we are launching at Drives and Controls will show exactly how the theory of IOT can be turned into a reality to enable benefits for maintenance professionals across all industry sectors”
