Pressure and humidity sensors for measuring relative humidity

BPS portfolio delivers small size and superb accuracy for ultra-low-pressure monitoring in medical equipment (low/medium risk), and sensors optimised for certain harsh environments in heavy industry

RS Components has announced availability of the Bourns Precision Sensor (BPS) portfolio, which offers a highly dependable range of pressure and humidity sensors for measuring relative humidity and other environmental conditions.

The BPS230 humidity sensor has one of the smallest form factors available – measuring only 2.0 x 2.0 x 0.75mm – and offers high quality, high performance and excellent reliability.

The BPS230 also offers extremely stable performance over the lifetime of a product: a low total error band (TEB) of at least 3% accuracy over the calibrated temperature range; and a wide operating temperature range from –40 up to +105°C.

Key features of the pressure sensor portfolio include: a wide selection of devices to handle pressures from 0.15 to 1.0 PSI and from 15 to 500 PSI, with very high sensitivity for the ultra-low-pressure devices.

In addition, models are available that are compatible for use in certain harsh environments in air, liquid or gases.

Based on state-of-the-art MEMS technology, the BPS110 and BPS120 series are high precision sensors that are designed for ultra-low-pressure applications, and feature 1.5% TEB over the 0 to +60°C range. They also come with an I2C digital or analog output and have configurable ports and custom calibration available.

Typical applications for these devices include use in commercial or industrial HVAC systems for filter monitoring, or in medical equipment, such as low/medium risk devices, excluding life-saving or life-critical apparatus, but including patient monitoring equipment.

Low differential and gauge calibration pressure sensors are also available for CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) equipment or spirometers, for example.

The BPS130 sensor is squarely targeted at high temperature and certain harsh media environments and is designed for medium pressure ranges.

The device delivers a 2.5% TEB across and up to the extremes of the –40 to +150°C temperature range. The BPS130 sensor is also available with custom enclosure configurations and custom calibration.

Typical applications include process control; commercial and industrial HVAC equipment; in consumer markets for white goods and other appliances; and in heavy equipment industries, such as in fuel or transmission fluid systems, or EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) applications.

The Bourns BPS sensors are now shipping from RS in EMEA, Asia Pacific and North America.
