Air-to-water heat pumps can operate down to -15˚C producing hot water of 45˚C

Improved full load and seasonal efficiency in heating mode with no impact on footprint

Trane introduces a new air-to-water heat pump CXAF HEat (High Efficiency) model to its Sintesis platform of high efficiency large air-cooled chillers.

With heating capacity between 270 to 700 kilowatts (kW), the new CXAF HEat unit features an advanced suction line gas heat exchanger that boosts heating capacity with no significant increase in energy consumption compared to the SE (Standard Efficiency).

At the same time it delivers improved full load and seasonal efficiency in heating mode within the same spatial footprint and sound level.

The CXAF can operate down to negative 15˚C producing hot water of 45˚C without the need for auxiliary heating, making it suitable for most European climates and a more reliable and efficient alternative for gas or fuel boilers.

Sai Srikanth Pinisetti, engineering leader for Trane Europe, says: “The Sintesis CXAF portfolio is the result of our belief in electrification of heating as a way to offset the use of fossil fuels for heating and an important global contributor to mitigate climate change and reduce carbon footprint.

“By adding the new CXAF HEat to our portfolio we continue offering our customers options for sustainability and better efficiency thus contributing to our vision of reducing the energy intensity of the world.

Trane CXAF customers can benefit from:

* Cooling or heating from one single package – the reversible technology lowers installation and operating costs by satisfying summer and winter demands with a single unit.

* Operating ranges down to negative 15˚C in heating mode, and up to 52˚C in cooling mode making it suited for comfort and industrial applications

* Wide range of configurations to choose from, combining low noise and high efficiency to minimise the Total Cost of Ownership

* Choice of three levels of noise attenuation to meet the requirements of even the most sound-sensitive environments

* Full interoperability via SmartCom interface LonTalk, BACnet and Modbus.

The units offer best in class, Eurovent Class A efficiency in heating and seasonal efficiency exceeding minimum regulatory requirements.

All units in the Trane Sintesis Advantage portfolio are compliant with all applicable European Ecodesign Regulations under the Energy-related Products (ErP) framework Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament.
