Flexicon extends its FPADS divisible conduit system

Flexible conduit manufacturer, Flexicon has extended its FPADS range of double slit corrugated conduits to include a new range of termination options alongside new material variants and different colours.

This includes a range of hinged fittings and locknuts for 21mm size conduits plus an extended choice of materials for the retrofit conduit, including polypropylene and an enhanced low fire hazard polyamide PA6.

The FPADS system was launched last year in PA6 material, to provide a fast and simple option for retrofit applications or where cable protection has been identified as a requirement post installation.

The range has already proved highly popular with contractors and installers looking to protect vulnerable or existing cabling that may be susceptible to mechanical damage as Colin Legg, Marketing Manager from Flexicon explains: “Our customers have been quick to realise the benefits of the new FPADS divisible conduit system. It offers cable protection for installations where it is difficult to feed cabling through the open ends of the conduit, or where existing cabling needs to be protected for the future. The conduit physically wraps around the cables instead of the cables being pulled through a traditional conduit system.

“Due to its popularity, we have now extended the range of materials available, in sizes from 13mm up to 54mm, to include polypropylene (FPPDS) as well as an enhanced, low fire hazard PA6 (FPRDS) option.

“We have also added a hinged fitting and locknut, compatible with the 21mm size divisible conduit, to provide an easy and secure termination option.

The divisible conduit offers retrospective protection against external hazards, making it ideal for retrofitting applications where minimal disruption is essential, such as in the manufacturing and automation, rail and utilities sectors.

The FPADS divisible conduit system is an ideal alternative to slit conduit, which can potentially expose cabling when bent or routed around corners. Divisible conduits maintain continuous protection of the cabling irrespective of orientation or routing and can be fixed using standard conduit clips from the Flexicon range.

This adds additional security to prevent the protected cables from being exposed, whilst offering excellent compression strength of 60kg/100mm for the 21mm size.

Flexicon has designed the range with safety and reliability in mind. FPADS conduits are self-extinguishing as standard, and are halogen, sulphur and phosphorous free. Suitable for a temperature range of -40°C to +120°C, they have also been tested extensively to ensure product performance will not suffer from significant mechanical deterioration due to ultraviolet exposure, making them ideal for solar photovoltaic applications.
